HarmonyOS was designed to solve this problem. HarmonyOS, a next-generation operating system for smart devices, provides users with a more comfortable, smooth and secure experience by providing a common language for different types of devices to connect and collaborate. Distributed to decouple and flexibly distribute system software and combine previously independent devices into a cohesive and integral Super Device using technology. The user freely exploits the capabilities of the component devices according to their needs. A new type of connectivity experience is offered through Service Widgets.

The HUAWEI WATCH 3 Series, the first smartwatch powered by HarmonyOS, integrates directly with Huawei smartphones to provide a multi-functional travel assistant service. The functionality streams directly from the smartphone, making all travel and flight information accessible at a glance. It also supports blood glucose management, fall detection and SOS functions, as well as being used to monitor and manage health status in real time. Multi-device interaction with HarmonyOS makes controlling multiple devices as simple as controlling one. The new Multi-Device Control Panel supports simple and intuitive connections via its drag-and-drop built-in feature that allows users to freely connect them to the devices they want according to specific scenarios.

For example, if you want to watch a movie at home late at night, all you have to do is open the Control Panel and drag the smart screen icon to your phone icon. So the movie will stream directly from your phone to the TV. If you are wearing your HUAWEI FreeBuds 4, you can drag the headset icon to the phone icon; at this point the movie will play on your smart screen while redirecting your audio through your FreeBuds. These cases are just a simple example of the Super Device experience.

HUAWEI HiLink has been updated to HarmonyOS Connect to equip more non-Huawei devices with smart features. Now smart home devices can be connected to your mobile phone with a single tap. For example, you can touch your phone to a HarmonyOS-based Midea oven and select a recipe to start preparing your meal instantly. You can keep your food fresh for longer with Haier refrigerators that automatically adjust their temperature according to the type of food you store. You can get the perfect soy milk for your body with Joyoung soy milk machines, which can suggest recipes based on data in the Huawei Health app.[7] Working together, these connections can turn your kitchen into a personal health coach.

Huawei takes consumer privacy and security to the next level. HarmonyOS has further enhanced the leading privacy and security technologies found in EMUI. Huawei’s key design principle is to ensure that only the right person can access the right data with the right device, ensuring the security of every access to every device, as well as the reliability of all data storage, transmission and use action. When multi-device co-authentication is enabled, users can only unlock their smartphone with a combination of facial recognition and a special control that ensures that the watch they are wearing is connected to the phone.

HarmonyOS protects devices by level by managing user data by category and setting specific security threshold for Super Devices. Only devices that meet strict security requirements can access data corresponding to their security level, allowing users to use Multi-Device Collaboration features with peace of mind. HarmonyOS apps undergo rigorous testing throughout development, release, installation and use to ensure they offer a secure experience in a clean ecosystem.

At today’s event, HUAWEI also introduced its two high-end monitors, MateView and MateView GT, along with the new generation semi-open Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) wireless bluetooth headset FreeBuds 4.
